ABOUT THE HOST

My name is Rohya Alamin, I am currently a junior in high school from Arizona, I am a second generation Eritrean American and founder of Progress Without Stress. I have a passion for dance, creating, and making a difference. From a young age, I’ve been surrounded by hard-working individuals in my family. However, I noticed their success came at the cost of stress, worry, and pressure. Escaping the Eritrean-Ethiopian war gave my parents a childhood of displacement and instability. After immigrating from Eritrea to America, their purpose was to always provide and give back to others, even if it meant sacrificing things in their own lives. As I grew up I noticed this pattern of stressing to accomplish things, not only in my family but also within my friends, teachers, and society as a whole.

Stress is defined as a psychological state of worry or mental tension influenced by a difficult situation that prompts us to address a challenge or obstacle in our lives. Often when we stress, it is because we are worried about how we are going to reach a goal or achievement. But I believe we shouldn’t allow stress to be the sole navigator of our journey. Instead, we should be led by determination, happiness, and confidence. All of this requires the right mindset, which is why I’ve founded Progress Without Stress, which aims to alleviate stress and empower young minds, encouraging them to prioritize their well-being, ensuring that it doesn’t compromise their ambitions and goals.

Through tips and reminders on instagram and monthly podcasts of advice from wellness professionals, mindset coaches, psychology and neuroscience professors, my audience will create a tranquil and composed mindset for themself that will help them achieve anything and everything.

I believe success is achieved through ethics, purpose and mindset. So to all my fellow stressed out students, let’s make some progress today!
